Lahore, Pakistan: Pointing out that his earlier statement about Thar Coal Project was misquoted.  The Water and Power Minister Ahmad Mukhtar has said that the project is viable and the government is working on it for attaining cheap electricity generation, while talking to journalists after inaugurating an International Exhibition of Energy, Oil and Power at Lahore Expo Centre here on Tuesday.

On Sunday, the Minister reportedly said that power generation from Thar has not been found to be feasible. In an interview to foreign media, he was quoted as saying that Dr Samar Mubarakmand, the chief of the Thar Coal Project, was trying to generate electricity through Thar coal with highly advanced technology but his technology could not yield the desired results.
