20 Pakistanis complete PhDs from foreign universities
Islamabad, Pakistan: Another 20 Pakistanis have completed their PhDs under Higher Education Commission‘s (HEC) Overseas Scholarship Program. Considered to be a middle ranking country when it comes to literacy and education, Pakistan’s s higher eduction sector is going through financial crunches these days.
According to official statistic, though literacy rate has increased from 57 percent to 58 percent in the country, the target of increasing reach of higher education from 5 percent to 10 percent has yet to be achieved.
The candidates out of which only one is female belong to LUMS, International Islamic University, COMSATS Abbotabad, National Textile University Faisalabad, Punjab University,NESCOM, Quaid-e-Azam University, SSUET, UET Peshawar, Bahauddin Zakaria University Bahawalpur, MAJU Islamabad, CME College Rawalpindi and IBA Sukhur.
